53 miles Macedon to Weedsport
Dwight went to Walmart and picked up 2 COVID test kits for Leslie, who has a head cold. Tested negative.
Trail was technically closed for resurfacing (expected end date 2 weeks ago). It was part packed dirt, mostly loose chunky gravel and the bridges at the end were fortunately open, but patched with 3/4 inch particle board.
We took an alternate route to avoid going through Montezuma on 31, which eventually led us deeper and deeper into Montezuma wildlife refuge. Paved, gravel, closed gravel, closed gravel double track, dirt double track, mowed grass, bridge closed to all but walkers. We had to take the panniers off the bikes and lift the bikes around the barricades.
Weedsport had a RedRoof inn. Not worth calling for reservations; the phone people ask 20 unimportant questions and continually put you on hold. Online or in person is the way to go with them. Walked to a neighborhood bar for dinner. No dark beers.
